The Dimebag Darrell estate has launched Dime GuitarZ, a new guitar brand developed in partnership with Dean Zelinsky, the luthier behind many of Dimebag's iconic instruments. This move comes amidst ongoing legal battles over the ownership and use of Dimebag's guitar designs, with a recent court ruling favoring Dean Guitars. The estate's statement emphasizes the falsehood of the misconception that Dimebag had a relationship with Dean Guitars, instead highlighting his connection with Zelinsky, who built many of his early guitars. The estate argues that Zelinsky's designs were integral to Dimebag's identity as a player and that the new venture aims to fulfill his wishes. The flagship model, the Culprit, is a design originally conceived by Dimebag and features a mahogany body, a three-piece maple set neck, and Seymour Duncan Dimebucker pickups. The guitar is priced between $1,999 and $5,999 and is available in both USA and Standard Series variants. Zelinsky, who sold Dean Guitars in 1991 and stepped away in 2008, expresses personal significance in the project, stating that helping carry Dimebag's legacy forward may be the most meaningful work he's ever done.
